Dumaguete’s Adopted Son
Look at my site’s header. That photo of a pedicab and a walking man framed in woods and shadows tells a lot of stories. For me, it’s about a journey…a choice. Sometimes we prefer to procrastinate or take our time in accomplishing our goals, and sometimes we do it hastily. We are given the chance to choose which path to take, but we have to face the consequences for the decisions that we make.
Aaaah… such a beautiful photo, but unfortunately, I had to crop it because of the required header size. You will find this fine piece of art in my good American friend Tommy Schultz’s website (http://tommyschultz.com).

Tommy is the man! He’s a very talented guy, and his photos never ceased to impress me. His underwater shots are superb… breathtaking! His works were even featured in the Philippine Daily Inquirer (front page) and in Philippine Airlines’ Mabuhay Magazine.

He came to Dumaguete as a Peace Corps volunteer and was connected with the SU Marine Laboratory. He seemed to have been greatly fascinated by the city that he decided to stay longer. As a matter of fact, during his years of stay in Dumaguete, Tommy was even able to create his own “Dave Matthews-ish” band, The Frying Nemo Band, and they used to regularly play at Hayahay Resto Bar.
He remained a nice guy despite his being an internationally acclaimed photographer. He is currently exploring Bali, Indonesia, and he said he is coming back soon. Can’t wait to see his new photos!
