Earnest Hope
(I wrote this on May 7, 2008, posted it just today)
I ended up using my own name to call this blog. hehehe! I created a blog named dumagueteni, but blogger.com locked it because they thought it was a spam!
Anyway, I hope this one won’t be locked because this will be my official blog.
It is just very timely that I made this blog today because I consider this day as another major turning point in my life. Just 30 minutes ago, I talked to my team lead and I informed her that I am resigning from my job. Yes, I am leaving this company. I will not miss SPi, but I will miss my work (copyediting) and, of course, the people I will be leaving behind. I hope we would still get to see each other around.
How I came about creating this blog is simply because I am in love with my life. Hahaha! That sounds so narcissistic, but what I mean is that I am satisfied with what I have and with what I’ve become. So many things to thank God for.
Mainly, I will be writing about events, friends, and places–specially Dumaguete because I love this city. It’s known to most of my friends that I am originally from Mindanao and that I came here to study in Silliman and later decided to sort of “settle”. I thought there was nothing more I could ask for. I found a fine-paying job, I got a nice apartment, I have my friends (good and not-so-good, haha!), and I found good venues for my personal, sometimes crazy, habits and wants. Dumaguete is, indeed, the city of gentle people—so far—as it has been very accommodating to non-natives like me.
I would be writing about the brilliant people I’ve encountered during my 7-year stay in Dumaguete–those I’ve known personally and whose talents are worth recognizing. I admit I want to become friends with people with extraordinary talents because I want to learn from them. I want to know their stories: how they learned their skills, how they deal with people who appreciate or criticize their craft, and how they deal with things with the kind of lives they have as artists. I’d love to discover every unique personality and behavior they have.
I am dedicating this blog to these people. Just keep on visiting me here because this will be my third home (first is my apartment, second is my multiply page, hehehe). God bless you all!

hahaha…. nice… i like the part where you said you will not miss SPi… we share the same feelings… hahaha… as my co-mc jokingly told me after i tendered my resignation, “We hope the company will have all the better, not the best… coz, we are the best and we’re outta here”… hehehe… Godspeed.
